Ramona was born on December 28, 1938 in Sulfur Springs, Texas and raised by her loving parents, Marvin Victor Sapaugh and Gwendolyn “GiGi” Cannon. She attended San Angelo High School and graduated in 1956. She went on to attend both San Angelo State and Abilene Christian University and graduated Summa cum Laude with a Bachelor’s in Education. Ramona raised two wonderful sons William Clayton Thedford and Matthew Wayne Thedford on her own for several years. She also raised a beautiful daughter Kimberly who passed away at a very young age.
She went on to marry the love of her life, William “Bill” Thedford, on July 22, 1975 in Clyde, TX. The couple were introduced by her brother, Marvin Wayne Sapaugh, at a Kiwanis banquet and married after a short courtship. Bill adopted the boys the day before their marriage. A year later, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Tracy Lee. The couple have resided in Clyde, Abilene and Early based on his coaching career. The couple created a life and legacy in Early.
Ramona was so much more than can be summed up in a few words. She was a wife, a mother, a friend, a teacher, a mentor, a role model, and an inspiration to everyone she met. She left a lasting impression of love that stood the test of time. Someone once said, “The things you do for yourself are gone when you are gone, but the things you do for others remain as your legacy.” Ramona left a legacy that will continue for generations through all the lives she touched. She dedicated her life to the service of the Lord and therefore to the service of her family, friends, and community. She left a legacy of love.
