LOHN – The Class A Division II No. 4 Richland Springs Coyotes completed a perfect regular season with a 68-0 victory over District 16 rival Lohn Thursday night.
District 16 champion Richland Springs (10-0, 4-0) required just 187 total yards – 98 rushing and 89 passing – against Lohn (0-9, 0-3), as the Coyotes defense recovered six fumbles which led to short fields.
Among the highlights, Billy Perry completed all four of his pass attempts for 79 yards with two touchdowns, while rushing for a 28-yard score on his only carry. Jayden Sutherland hauled down three receptions for 49 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Cohen Ethridge threw a 10-yard touchdown pass and caught a 30-yard scoring reception.
Perry also led the defense with 6.5 tackles, including 4.5 for loss, and recovered a fumble, while Sutherland tacked on 3.5 tackles and booted 5 of 6 two-point kicks.
The Coyotes have a bye next week and will open the postseason against the District 15 runner-up, which would be Sidney (6-3) if the season ended today.

Comanche 48, Merkel 0
COMANCHE – The Comanche Indians set up a Week 11 showdown with Eastland for third place in the final District 5-3A Division II standings thanks to Thursday night’s 48-0 home victory over Merkel.
Comanche (5-4, 2-2) finished with 436 yards of total offense – 330 rushing and 106 passing – against the Merkel (5-4, 1-3) defense.
Sawyer Wilkerson led the way with 139 yards and two touchdowns on the ground while Colt Schwertner chipped in 102 yards and a score. Quarterback Layden Welch tacked on 46 yards and Kazdon Thedford rushed for 34 yards and scored twice.
Through the air, Welch connected on 4 of 11 passes for 106 yards with a touchdown to CT Buford, who finished with two grabs for 66 yards. JJ Davis and Caden Davis added receptions of 30 and 10 yards, respectively.
Defensively for Comanche, Diego Gutierrez led the charge with 16 tackles while Welch contributed 11 tackles, a sack and an interception. Chance Boswell added eight tackles and Kyler Beaty finished with seven. Schwertner also intercepted a pass and Cayden Davis recovered a fumble.
Next week, the Indians visit Eastland (3-6, 2-2) – a 62-7 winner over Dublin (1-8, 0-4) Friday night.

Coleman 35, De Leon 7
DE LEON – The Coleman Bluecats solidified their hold on the No. 2 position in District 5-2A Division I with a 35-7 road victory over the De Leon Bearcats Friday night.
Coleman (7-2, 4-1) manufactured 434 yards of total offense – 286 passing and 148 rushing – with two turnovers, while De Leon (6-4, 3-3) finished with 293 yards – 204 through the air and 89 on the ground – with one turnover.
Jadin Jackson rushed for 61 yards and two touchdowns and threw a 57-yard touchdown on his lone pass attempt, while Brayden Torres connected on 16 of 26 passes for 229 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
Blaze Hronek caught eight passes for 121 yards and a touchdown and Hunter Lackey grabbed seven passes for 116 yards. Kelan Sikes added two grabs for 79 yards and scored once.
Brent Bouldin chipped in 56 yards on the ground, Lackey rushed for 22 yards, and Anthony Espitia finished with 7 yards and a touchdown.
Next week, the District 5-2A Division I runner-up Bluecats will welcome Bangs (2-7, 1-4), which suffered 38-0 loss to Hamilton (5-4, 2-3) Friday night, in the home and regular season finale.

Cross Plains 49, Abilene TLCA 13
ABILENE – The Cross Plains Buffaloes secured a second straight District 6-2A Division II victory and playoff berth with a 49-13 victory over Abilene TLCA Thursday night.
Cross Plains (4-5, 2-2) finished with 504 yards of total offense, including 450 rushing, against Abilene TLCA (1-8, 0-4), which mustered just 98 yards – with 84 coming on the ground – with a pair of turnovers.
Theron Albrecht rushed for 173 yards and three touchdowns for the Buffaloes, Dusty Wyatt added 133 yards and two scores and Alex Parker tacked on a touchdown and 60 yards on the ground. Coltyn Barron rushed for 64 yards with Ian Norris and Caleb Blue notching 23 yards apiece.
Wyatt also completed 5 of 8 passes for 54 yards with a touchdown as Blue caught an 18-yard scoring toss. Gray Albrecht finished with two grabs for 21 yards and Barron added two catches for 15 yards.
Next week, the Buffaloes will visit Miles (6-3, 2-2), who dropped a 34-33 decision to Roscoe (7-2, 3-1) Friday, in a battle to determine the third and fourth playoff seeds from District 6-2A Division II.

Rising Star 61, Panther Creek 16
RISING STAR – The Rising Star Wildcats earned at least a share of their second straight District 14-A Division II championship with a 61-16 home victory over Panther Creek Friday night.
Rising Star (7-2, 2-0) produced 237 yards of total offense – 177 passing and 60 rushing – against Panther Creek (4-3, 1-1).
Kobey Morris completed 6 of 9 passes for 174 yards and three touchdowns as Dakota Higgins caught two scoring receptions and finished with three grabs for 82 yards, while Blake Wilson hauled in a scoring toss and caught two passes for 55 yards.
Dathon Morris led the way on the ground with 31 yards and a touchdown and Kobey Morris added 15 yards and a rushing score.
Defensively, Manning Miller returned an interception for a touchdown and Pacey McGinn brought a punt back 50 yards for six points.
Pacey McGinn and Dustin McGinn both recovered fumbles, while Miller, Higgins and Wilson led Rising Star with four tackles apiece.
Next week, the District 14-A Division II front-running Wildcats look to wrap up the outright district championship at Moran (2-7, 0-2), which fell to Paint Rock (5-4, 1-1) by a 63-14 count Friday night.

Jonesboro 48, May 22
MAY – In a battle for the District 14-A Division I championship, the No. 7 Jonesboro Eagles prevailed for a second year in a row over the May Tigers, 48-22, Friday night.
May (7-3, 3-1) mustered just 233 total yards –154 passing and 79 rushing – against the Jonesboro (7-1, 3-0) defense.
Braden Steele completed 17 of 24 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 47 yards, while Ben Harrell picked up 32 yards and a touchdown on the ground, completed 2 of 3 passes for 29 yards, and a caught a team-high seven passes for 57 yards with a touchdown.
Other offensive standouts were Mikey Scheriger with four catches, Cayson Dail with three for 31 yards, Kaden Watkins with two for 26 yards, Jackson Lusk with two for 20 yards and Hagan Hester with one reception for 17 yards.
The Tigers have wrapped up the regular season and will face District 13 champion – either Irion County, Robert Lee or Veribest – in the bi-district round of the playoffs.

Tolar 61, Goldthwaite 6
GOLDTHWAITE – The Goldthwaite Eagles became the latest District 5-2A Division I foe to fall victim to the No. 2 Tolar Rattlers, 61-6, Friday night.
Tolar (8-1, 5-0) held Golthwaite (3-6, 1-4) to 160 yards of total offense – 110 rushing and 50 passing – with two turnovers. Meanwhile, the Rattlers churned out 377 yards – 218 through the air and 159 on the ground – and lost the ball once.
Luke Sanderson rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown to pace Goldthwaite, and also caught two passes for 15 yards. Marcus Stevens chipped in 38 yards on the ground and caught two passes for a team-high 23 yards. Colin Gardner added a 12-yard reception as Ethan Deeds connected on 5 of 13 passes with two interceptions.
Tolar quarterback Isaac Blessing completed 8 of 9 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns and added 43 rushing yards and three more scores.
Next week, the Eagles head to Hamilton (5-4, 2-3), which hammered Bangs (2-7, 1-4) by a 38-0 count Friday night, needing a win and some help to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Sidney 55, Blanket 8
SIDNEY – Looking to remain undefeated in District 15-A Division II action Friday night, the Blanket Tigers instead were dealt a 55-8 defeat by the Sidney Eagles.
Blanket (5-4, 2-1) was limited to 107 total yards – 87 rushing and 20 passing – by the Sidney (6-3, 2-1) defense.
Kannon Kensing rushed for 53 yards and the lone Tiger touchdown, while Cameron Aultman chipped in 37 yards on the ground. Gage Smith completed his only pass attempt to Isaac Smith for 20 yards.
Isaac Smith led Blanket’s defense with 11 tackles and AC French recorded nine.
Next week, the Tigers host Zephyr (7-2, 3-0), which had a bye Friday night, needing a win to force a three-way tie for the District 15-A Division II championship and create a tiebreaker scenario for the league’s two playoff berths.

CHEROKEE – The Brookesmith Mustangs were eliminated from postseason contention with Friday night’s 68-0 road loss to the Cherokee Indians.
Stats for Brookesmith (4-5, 1-2) and Cherokee (7-1, 2-1) were not available.
