A total of 676 ballots were cast, including 178 Friday, during the first week of early voting for the Nov. 7 constitutional amendment election.

Early voting continues next week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Brown County Elections Office.

Election Day polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Prop. 4 deals with increasing the amount of the exemption from ad valorem taxation by a school district on residence homesteads from $40,000 to $100,000.

Prop. 9 authorizes a cost-of-living adjustment to certain annuitants of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas.
