For the second year, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Services has partnered with Coggin Elementary in BISD, with the participation of Brown County extension agents Wendy Hamilton, Courtney Parrott, and Nick Gonzales. This semester, 192 youth in grades 2, 3, and 4 have been logging miles for Walk Across Texas, and Boys & Girls Club members have been contributing by logging laps to earn bonus miles. During this eight-week challenge, 73 adults across 11 teams competed to see who could Walk Across Texas! virtually, a total of 832 miles.
Don’t miss the opportunity to win one of two $25 gift cards, courtesy of Sliger’s Market and Walmart Brownwood. Participants in the Walk Across Texas! program can complete the wrap-up survey at the club and receive a bag of nutritional educational incentive items provided by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension’s Better Living for Texans program.
The program organizers express their gratitude to the generous supporters who made this event possible, including Honey Bee Natural Foods, Western Bank, Walmart, Sliger’s Market, Depot Liquor, Brownwood Community Garden, the Texas 4-H Center, Keep Brownwood Beautiful, Rivercrest, Texas Bank, Best Western Hotel, Hendrick Medical Center, Chick-fil-A, TX DOT, Robert Goodwin, DDS, Kendra Bryan, RDH, and Chandler Brown, RDH. Their support has been invaluable in making this event a success.
This event is open to everyone in the community, including those who did not participate in the “Making a Healthier Me” themed Walk Across Texas! program. It’s a fantastic opportunity to come together for a fun and healthy evening on October 30th from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Brown County.
