The following fishing reports are provided by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the week of October 18:
LAKE BROWNWOOD
GOOD. Water stained; 73-75 degrees; 8.38 feet below pool. The lake is turning over and the water is stained. Black bass are good with catches up to 7.37 pounds on jigs, shakey heads, crankbaits and frogs in 2-15 feet of water. Crappie are good in brush piles and around the docks on minnows in 10-12 feet of water. White bass are good with catches up to 1.50 pounds under the lights on crankbaits and small jigs. Catfish are slow with catches up to five pounds using prepared and cut bait.
LAKE CISCO
GOOD. Water slightly stained; 75 degrees; 11.28 feet below pool. Catches of catfish and bass off the docks and along the shoreline with worms and minnows. Report by Lake Cisco Rentals. Steep rocky banks holding bass, but most fish are on the smaller size.
LAKE COLEMAN
SLOW. Slightly stained; 75 degrees; 8.61 feet below pool. Bass are fair using soft plastics and jigs tipped with a Hags Undertaker Jr, crankbaits, chatterbaits and topwaters. Point near Quail Creek Cove is good for hybrids on topwaters in the morning and evening, and rattletraps or crankbaits throughout the day. White and hybrids are fair under the lights at night on fast moving baits. Channel catfish are fair. Crappie are good suspended in 10-12 feet around trees and docks. Launching may be difficult due to the low lake level.
LAKE O.H. IVIE
FAIR. Water stained; 80 degrees; 29.35 feet below pool. White bass are fair live baits and plastic baits. Crappie are good on live bait or jigs. Largemouth are fair. As the lake level continues to drop, navigate with caution watching for trees. Report by Concho Park and Marina.
LAKE PROCTOR
FAIR. Water stained; 80 degrees; 13.79 feet below pool. Black bass are slow. Catfish on punch bait in shallow water. Hybrid and sand bass can be caught on top water. Crappie are hitting minnows around rock structures. Boat ramps are closed, but it is possible to launch a kayak. Report by Richard Wade, Richard Wade’s Guide Service.
