Mike was born on August 16, 1954, in Lampasas, Texas. Mike was a hardworking and loving individual, known for his charitable nature and dedication to his family. He had a passion for youth and enjoyed spending time outdoors, particularly fishing.
Mike’s educational journey began at Cherokee Independent School, where he acquired the foundation for a life well-lived. Throughout his career, he approached his work with dedication and integrity. He tended to the Bailey family ranch, served Max Mahan trucking, and spent 15 years as the esteemed owner/operator of Bailey Christian Lawn Service. His commitment to excellence led him to a fruitful 28-year tenure at 3M, where his contributions were invaluable.
He was known for his unwavering commitment to hard work and his boundless love for his family. He generously shared his time and resources with those in need. Mike’s passion for nurturing the younger generation was evident through his dedication to serving the youth through devotionals, gatherings, and the many mission trips.
In his leisure time, Mike pursued a multitude of hobbies that brought him joy and contentment. Above all, his family held a special place in his heart, and he relished every moment spent with them. A passionate outdoorsman, he found tranquility by the water’s edge and in the hunting blind just the same. In his younger years, Mike eagerly hit the slopes, carving his way through fresh snow as he instilled a love of snow skiing in his children. Water sports and engaging in games provided him with cherished memories and countless laughs. He loved picking up his guitar and strumming with friends and his brothers-in-law alike.
Mike’s faith played a crucial role in his life, and he drew strength and comfort from various congregations throughout his life. He was an active member of The Hills Church in North Richland Hills, found comfort at North Ridge Church of Christ in Mountain Pleasant, and established long-lasting connections as a long-term member at Austin Avenue Church of Christ in Brownwood. His role as a Deacon at Austin Avenue Church of Christ demonstrated his unwavering dedication to his faith community.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda Bailey, and their beloved children: Laurie Bailey, Tonya McElyea and her husband Cameron, and Ken Bailey and his wife Julie. His sister, Cindy Harris, held a special place in his heart as well.
