Lincoln Madlock, 86, of Santa Anna, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023 in Brownwood, TX. Visitation will be held Friday, October 6th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Brownwood Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 7th at 2:00 pm at New Testament Holiness Church in Bangs, TX.
Lincoln was born on September 5,1937 in Sardis, MS to Lucy and Alonzo Madlock. His legacy is one of profound faith, unwavering commitment to family, and an innate joy derived from the simple pleasures of life.
Being the tenth out of eleven siblings, Lincoln always stood out, not just by his place in the lineup, but by the depth of his faith and his boundless love for family. From an early age, he embraced a life devoted to the Lord, and that commitment became the bedrock upon which he built his life’s journey.
In his earlier years, life blessed Lincoln with three wonderful children from his first union: Eugene Madlock (Donnet); Phyllis Land-Okediadi; and Larry Madlock (Shelia). Adventure and destiny then took him to Tulsa, OK, where his heart found another chapter of love in Bobbie Gean Bailey. They exchanged vows in 1969, and the wind of change brought them to the warm embrace of Coleman, TX. This union was blessed with four more children: Tony, Rongey (Serena), Shonda, and the dearly departed Bridgette Madlock.
But Lincoln’s heart had more room. He took on the role of a bonus father to eight other wonderful souls: Barbara Divens, Sylvester Mason, Debra Webb (Walter), Clayton Mason, Dwayne Mason (Carolyn), Terry Mason (Ann), Regina Mason, and Melisha Mason, guiding and nurturing them with the same love and wisdom he showered upon his own.
Professionally, Lincoln was dependable at Dry’s Manufacture Company, where he dedicated three decades of hard work, retiring at the age of 65. But retirement was far from quiet for Lincoln. With the dawn of this new chapter, he turned his passions to goat farming and gardening, reveling in the earth’s bounties and the thrill of being outdoors, tending to things that grew under his tender care.
A devout member of the New Testament Holiness Church, Lincoln’s faith was his compass, guiding him through the highs and lows of life.
Lincoln is survived by his cherished wife, Bobbie Madlock; his devoted siblings, Thelma Madlock-Richardson and Virginia Madlock; his kids, and a multitude of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever be touched by his wisdom, his love, and his unwavering faith. He was preceded in death by both parents, nine of his siblings, his daughters Bridgette Madlock, Barbara Divens, Regina Mason, and son Clayton Mason.
Lincoln Madlock’s life was a testament to the power of faith, the importance of family, and the pure joy of living life with purpose and passion. As we bid him a heartfelt goodbye, we know that his spirit will live on in the lives he touched and the love he shared.
