The Texas Department of Public Safety issued information on the preliminary investigation on a fatality accident that took place at 3:20 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25 in Eastland County. A 2000 Freightliner Conventional XL truck tractor, towing a 2013 Fontaine flatbed semi-trailer, struck a cow on US Highway 183 at County Road 156, 3 miles north of Cisco.
Alberto Salazar, 43, of Breckenridge, perished in the accident.
The investigation revealed the 18-wheeler was traveling south on U.S. Highway 183 and the driver failed to see a black cow standing in the roadway and struck the animal. The driver lost control of the vehicle as it traveled east and overturned. The driver was not wearing a seat belt.
