Friday’s 83rd meeting in the Battle of 377 will feature a pair of Top 10 teams, according to latest edition of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football ratings, which were released Monday.
The undefeated Brownwood Lions (5-0) maintained their No. 7 ranking in Class 4A Division I after Friday’s 31-38 home victory over Waco Connally while the Stephenville Yellow Jackets (3-2) reappeared in the poll at No. 9 following last week’s 21-20 triumph over Class 5A Division II Wichita Falls Rider.
The rest of the 4A Division I Top 10 features No. 1 Tyler Chapel Hill (4-0), No. 2 Boerne (4-1), No. 3 Celina (5-0), No. 4 Anna (3-1), No. 5 China Spring (3-2), No. 6 Kilgore (4-1), No. 8 Iowa Colony (4-0), and No. 10 Hereford (5-0) – a member of District 3-4A Division I, the only team other than Brownwood in Region I in this week’s rankings.
The Lions will attempt to snap a three-game Yellow Jacket win streak in the rivalry, with Brownwood’s last victory in the Battle of 377 coming in Stephenville in 2019 by a 38-22 count
