The Early Chamber of Commerce recently posted the following on its Facebook page:
On Sept 12., Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood sponsored and presented at the Early Chamber of Commerce monthly Lunch & Learn. Some topics included the renovation of the Walker Cancer Center, additional upgrades and job openings throughout the hospital, introduction of the new Sports Medicine program with new Athletic Trainer, Martin Caddell, and their mission to continue to provide the best medical care to the community.
Jory Lee, Chief Operating Officer of HMCB, spoke on the thirty million dollars in overall renovations in HMCB. The Walker Cancer center is currently under renovation and is said to be a 4-month long project costing about 4.5 million dollars to complete. This project is vital to offer patients with top-of-the-line equipment that will better serve the treatment process. During this time of renovations HMCB patients are having to go out of town for care but with the patients experience in mind, they are doing their best to make this temporary time as smooth as possible by offering accommodations for gas/transportation, lodging, and more.
The new Sports Medicine Program, headed by Martin Caddell, spoke on the new addition and how a ‘Saturday Morning Clinic’ is going to not only benefit Brownwood and Early but many schools in the surrounding area. This clinic-like program aids surrounding schools by having x-ray capabilities, eliminating visits to the ER, offering referrals, and so much more! Mr. Caddell will also be able to visit campuses to offer education on sports medicine and even attend sports games to be on the sideline, ready to assist in case of medical emergencies.
HMCB wants nothing more than to continue to help its patients with quick quality service and with the many improvements in the structure of the facility and equipment, that mission is continuing daily!
