Following Friday night’s 35-21 road victory over Class 5A Division II Abilene Wylie, the Brownwood Lions have vaulted to No. 9 in both the Padilla Poll and Harris Ratings Weekly Class 4A Division I rankings.
In the Padilla Poll, Brownwood trails only No. 1 Tyler Chapel Hill, No. 2 China Spring, No. 3 Anna, No. 4 Celina, No. 5 San Antonio Davenport, No. 6 Decatur, No. 7 Stephenville and No. 8 Boerne.
In the Harris Ratings, the No. 9 Lions are behind only No. 1 China Spring, No. 2 Tyler Chapel Hill, No. 3 Anna, No. 4 Stephenville, No. 5 Celina, No. 6 San Antonio Davenport, No. 7 Boerne, and No. 8 Kilgore. Decatur ranks No. 10, right behind Brownwood.
The Lions did not appear in this week’s Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Top 10 for Class 4A Division I.
Brownwood (1-0) kicks off its home schedule, the first of six games at Gordon Wood Stadium this season, at 7:30 p.m. Friday against Marble Falls (0-1). The visiting Mustangs are coming off a 40-14 season-opening defeat at the hands of Pflugerville Connally.
