“Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.” – A. A. Milne

Jamie Wayne Petras, age 3 days, died in his parents’ arms at Cook Children’s Medical Center NICU in Fort Worth, Texas, on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.  After struggling with many hurdles from his premature birth, he gently passed into the arms of Jesus. During that fleeting time, he touched many lives and was loved by all who cared for him.

Jamie is the son of Jeremy Wayne and Chelsea Arlene (Price) Petras of Brownwood, Texas.  He was the answer to their prayers, and they waited for his birth with joyful expectation.  He was loved by all who took care of him and will be greatly missed.

Jamie joins his Grandfather David Price, Grandmother Liz Read, and Uncle Jammie Petras in heaven.

Jamie is survived by his parents Jeremy Wayne Petras and Chelsea Arlene (Price) Petras of Brownwood, his twin brother Andrew David Petras of Brownwood, Sister Kaylee Riley (Skyler) of Warsaw, NY, Grandparents’ Deborah Price of Brownwood, Andrew (Julie) Petras of Norwich, ND, and Nephew Desmond Cobin of Warsaw, NY.  Many Aunts and Uncles: Leice and James Sells of Brownwood, Jennifer Johnston of Brownwood, Michelle (Joe) Henson of Stark City, MO, Katie Jo (Jon) Williams of Bangs, TX, Shannon Price of Ft. Smith, AR, Scott Price of GA, Miles (Monica) Petras of Bow Bells, ND, Andi (Randi) Petras of Stanley, ND, Tina Kennedy of Sioux Falls, SD, along with several cousins.

The family would like to thank the Doctors and Staff of Cook Children’s Medical Center NICU in Fort Worth for the incredible care provided to Jaime and his family.  And a special thanks to Dr. Yasmin Wilkinson and staff in Brownwood, and the owner of Rosen House, Kelly Bowden, for her thoughtfulness and hospitality while we stayed there.  The family appreciates all the prayers and concerns extended to us during this time.

Little Snowdrop

The world may never notice

If a snowdrop doesn’t bloom,

Or even pause to wonder

If the petals fall too soon

But every life that ever forms,

Or ever come to be,

Touches the world in some small way

For all eternity.

The little one we longed for

Was swiftly here and gone.

But the love that was then planted

Is a light that still shines on.

And though our arms are empty,

Our hearts know what to do.

Every beating of our hearts

Says that we love you.
