The Brown County Water Improvement District #1 issued the following information Wednesday morning:
As of 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2023 Lake Brownwood is at 8 feet below spillway.
We are in Stage 2: Moderate Drought Condition of our Drought Contingency Plan. Mandatory Drought Restrictions.
Today Lake Brownwood is at 65.8% capacity.
One week ago, we were at 66.6% capacity.
BCWID#1 is asking all customers to be mindful of wasting water.
Stage 1: Mild Drought Conditions begins when Lake Brownwood hits 5′ below spillway
Stage 2: Moderate Drought Condition begins when Lake Brownwood hit 8 ‘ below spillway.
Stage 3: Severe Drought Conditions begins when Lake Brownwood Hits 11′ below spillway.
Stage 4: Exceptional Drought Conditions begins when Lake Brownwood hits 14′ below spillway.
Please check with your retail water provider for the exact restrictions that you fall under.
BCWID#1 suggest to its customers not already doing so to restrict water from outdoor sprinkling, watering lawns, shrubs, driveways, and washing of automobiles to twice per week. The District will also suggest that customers employ “time of day ” restrictions.
