SAN ANGELO – The Brownwood High tennis team improved to 6-3 for the fall campaign with a 16-3 road victory over San Angelo Lake View Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Lions doubles teams posted a perfect record Tuesday led by the play of No. 1 duo Emma Delgado and Ashlyn Bundick (4-1, 4-1 over Liz Mata and Sam Perez), the No. 2 tandem of Raylei Hickey and Claire Meinecke (4-1, 4-0 over Adamaris Rangel and Kim Tuscano), and the No. 3 pairing of Ihana Figueroa and Anna Daniel (4-0, 4-0 over Emma Gonzales and Amy Mata).
In doubles action for the Lions, wins were claimed by No. 2 Wesley Goodrich and Eric Smith (5-3, 4-0 over E.J. Campos and Camdyn Irvine) and No. 3 Blake Hutchins and Caleb Dietlin (4-1, 4-1 over Hansen and Vargas).
Brownwood also won the mixed doubles match with the victory belonging to Trine Baugh and Zoe Smith (4-0, 4-0 over Daniel Sosa and Jayla Constancio).
The Lions and Lady Lions both won five of six singles matches.
For the boys, victories were secured by No. 2 Tyler Mitchell (4-1, 4-1 over Sosa), No. 3 Eric Waldrop (4-1, 4-0 over Irvine), No. 4 Goodrich (4-1, 4-0 over Sutton Lampier), No. 5 Smith (4-1, 4-0 over Campos) and No. 6 Hutchins (4-1, 4-2 over Hansen).
Girls singles wins were earned by No. 2 Hickey (4-2, 4-1 over Tuscano), No. 3 Meinecke (4-2, 4-0 over Perez), No. 4 Bundick (4-0, 4-0 over Rangel), No. 5 Figueroa (4-2, 4-0 over Constancio), and No. 6 Daniel (4-1, 4-0 over Emma Gonzales).
Also picking up wins that didn’t count toward the team total was the girls doubles teams of Avery Mair and Amy Deechaleune (2-4, 4-2, 10-5) and Jazzmyn Sanchez and Makenzie Williams (4-1, 4-0), Andre Martinez and Kris Koepp (4-1, 4-1) in boys doubles, and Aiden Oplotnik (4-0, 4-0) in boys singles competition.
The Lions and Lady Lions will be back in action Thursday, Aug. 31 against Keene in Glen Rose.
