The Brownwood Fire Department issued the following press release regarding a Saturday, Aug. 5 roadside grass fire on FM 2125.
Chief 9, Chief 92, Rescue 9, and Brush 9 responded at 2:05 p.m. Saturday and upon arrival, the fire was threatening two structures, and jumped the road into heavy brush. Agencies that assisted in containing the fire were Early Fire Department, Lake Dam Fire Department, Lake Bridge Fire Department, Bangs Fire Department, Brownwood Police Department, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Lake Patrol, Lifeguard Ambulance, Precinct 2-Water Tender, Texas Forest Service dozer crew, Helicopter, Brown County Emergency Management, and County Liaison Officer.
One firefighter was treated and released on the scene for heat injury.
Firefighters were on scene 2 hours and 58 minutes and it took an hour and 2 minutes to contain the fire.
Ten total acres burned with no fire damage noted to structures. As a reminder, Brown County will be under a Red Flag Warning for the unforeseeable future. Please make sure you are aware of the weather and any condition that may start a fire.
