Joseph Scott Jones, 50, of Austin, Texas, formally a Brownwood native passed away peacefully in his sleep July 20, 2023. Joseph Scott was born August 3, 1972 to Richard and Ellen Jones of New Braunfels, Texas (also formerly from Brownwood).
Scott served in the Army National Guard and also began a successful career as a land surveyor. Later in life, he mastered and obtained numerous certifications as an independent general contractor. With over 20 years of experience he built a successful business as an independent contractor.
Scott found his greatest happiness on the banks of ANY fishing hole. He had a keen sense of humor, a humble love for helping others, and an admiration for the outdoors. He was passionate about his family and enjoyed every opportunity to “cut up” with them. He loved reading and was creative. Scott preferred the simple things, was an extremely hard worker. He had an old school “hand shake” attitude about life. We love him and will miss him dearly.
Joseph Scott is survived by his daughter, Lacy Jones of Brownwood, son Therron Jones of Kenai, Alaska, and son Jared Jones of Ballinger, Texas. His three grandchildren Jayce, Aubree and Kayson all from Brownwood. His sister Jody and Greg Busse of New Braunfels, brother Justin and Tami Jones of Brownwood, sister Samantha Ramey of New Braunfels, brother Jerome Jones of New Braunfels, and sister Jessica and Mark Decker of Leander and twelve nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Grandmother Betty Staples and Grandfather James Brown, his Aunt Paula Boyd, Paternal Grandmother Wanda Fisher and Grandfather Lester (Pete) Jones.
