After months of coordination and work, the amazing people of Denison Animal Welfare Group and the staff of Corinne T. Smith Animal Center sent 17 dogs from Brown County to four different rescues in Wisconsin.
The staff from the shelter drove the dogs to Denison where at 3 a.m. they met DAWG to tag and set up their landing. At 4 a.m., 70 dogs from all over Texas were loaded onto a Cessna plane from “Dog is My Co-Pilot,” which was sponsored this trip by Farm House Fresh.
The flight took off about 6 a.m. heading to three different stops in Nebraska and two in Wisconsin.
This amazing partnership with Denison Group will allow for many more trips like this, but the CTSAC will need continued help from the community to keep this going in the form of donations for vetting these dogs, crates, leashes and collars for transport. And, of course, volunteers are always needed.
