All three Brown County cities enjoyed double-digit increases in sales tax allocations this month, according to figures released by the Texas Comptroller’s Office. For the second consecutive month the City of Bangs led the pack with the largest percentage increase. July sales tax allocations reflect taxable retail sales in the month of May 2023. Details below.
BROWNWOOD
The City of Brownwood received $621,945 in July, an increase of 18.15% over July 2022. Fiscal year-to-date (October 2022 through July 2023) the City of Brownwood has received $6,022,899, an increase of 9.12% over the previous fiscal year-to-date.
The Brownwood Municipal Development District received $201,510, an increase of 15.41%. Fiscal year-to-date the Brownwood MDD has received $1,945,627, up 8.11%.
EARLY
The City of Early received $220,876 in July, an increase of 13.73% over July 2022. Fiscal year-to-date Early has received $2,272,825, up 17.23% over the previous fiscal year-to-date.
The Early Municipal Development District received $73,108 in July, an increase of 13.98% over July 2022. Fiscal year-to-date the Early MDD has received $744,524, up 17.08% over the previous fiscal year-to-date.
BANGS
The City of Bangs received $21,168 in July, an increase of 24.01% over July 2022. Fiscal year-to-date Bangs has received $205,351, an increase of 9.30% over the previous fiscal year-to-date.
The Bangs Municipal Development District received $3,088 in July, an increase of 16.09% over July 2022. Fiscal year-to-date the Bangs MDD has received $29,868, up 7.77% over the previous fiscal year-to-date.
