The 10U Brownwood Braves were crowned TTAB District 8 Champions after a hard fought, week long tournament in Brownwood. They began the week as the lowest seeded team and played the Stephenville LumberKings to begin the tournament. It was a hard fought game, but Stephenville came out on top with a 9-1 victory. That sent the Braves into the losers bracket, and what a fight they had in store! They were able to take down the Cross Plains Buffalo on Tuesday which lined them up for a potential doubleheader matchup against the rival Brownwood Phillies. The Phillies went up 4-0 after two innings before an offensive barrage from the Braves sent them home with a 17-7 victory. The only way for the Braves to gain victory now was to defeat the Stephenville LumberKings twice in a row. Not only were they able to, but both wins happened in walk off fashion! Game 1 was a thrilling 11-10 victory, followed by a 15-14 win where the Braves were down 10-1 after the 2nd inning! There is no doubt they were the talk of the tournament, and will be representing Brownwood in the TTAB State Tournament July 10 – 14th.
