Brownwood Lion senior-to-be Gavin Brandstetter has selected by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association to play for Team Texas-Navy in the High Plains Shootout in Enid, Oklahoma. July 16-19. There will be 2 teams each from the states of Texas, Kansas and Oklahoma featuring some of the best talent in the Classes of 2024 and 2025.

Earlier this month, Brandstetter was selected to the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 4A All-State Team as a third-team pitcher.

Brandstetter posted a 7-3 record with 2 saves, a 1.14 ERA, 99 strikeouts and 22 walks in 61.2 innings of action. At the plate, Brandstetter hit .376 with 2 home runs, 21 RBIs, 12 doubles and a triple.

The Lions finished with a 22-11 record, an 8-4 league mark ,and were the second seed from District 6-4A for the playoffs, where they captured a bi-district championship over San Angelo Lake View.
