James M. Robison, age 86, of Blanket, Texas passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023. His family will host a visitation on Thursday, June 15th from 6 to 8 pm at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 16th at 2:00 pm in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at the Rock Church Cemetery with Military Honors.
James was born in Blanket, Texas on December 25, 1936 to Samuel Lee Grant Robison and Mertie Viola Bilbrey. He married Frieda Zaucher on December 22, 1956 in Karlsruhe, West Germany. James received an Associates Degree in Business Management from McMurry University in Abilene.
James was enlisted in the US Army from July 1955 to January 1958, afterwards he re-enlisted into the US Air-Force where he served from April of 1958 to October of 1980. Upon his retirement he was Classified as Chief Master Sargent with a total of 19 military service awards: The Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 1 Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster; Air Force Commendation Medal with 1 Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster; AF Good Conduct Medal with 1 Silver Oak Leaf Cluster (March 18, 1958 through March 17, 1978); Army Good Conduct Medal with Device; Expert Marksman-AF; Non-Commissioner Officers Academy Graduate Ribbon; Air-Force Longevity Service Ribbon with 1 Silver Oak Leaf Cluster; National Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster; Army of Occupational Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Air-Force Presidential Unit Citation; Republic of Vietnam Medal with Gallantry Cross and Device; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
James loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, living in Germany, working on his property and using his computer to keep in contact with old friends. He was a member of the Blanket Lions Club, Blanket Volunteer Fire Department and Lifetime NRA Member.
James is survived by his wife of 66 years, Frieda Robison; son James Robison and wife Cheryl; daughter Deborah Smith; son Jeffrey Robison and wife Susan; 5 grandchildren, Brian Smith, Jared Robison, Javin Robison, Shelby Robison and Lilah Robison; and 1 great-grandchild Thomas Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Mertie Robison; 3 brothers, Robert Allen Robison, Samuel Legrand Robison and Wesley Dale Robison.
