A woman from Eastland was killed in a vehicle and pedestrian accident on Interstate 20 in Eastland County, within the Ranger city limits.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety preliminary accident report, the accident happened at 1:05 am on Tuesday, June 6.
The pedestrian who died was Sherry Ann Maxey, 64, of Eastland. She was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace, Jesse Speer.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle, driven by a woman from Irving, Texas, was traveling east on Interstate 20. Unknown to the driver, a pedestrian was lying in the right hand lane of the interstate. The vehicle hit the pedestrian in the road. At the time of the accident, the pedestrian had not information for identification on her person. Investigators are waiting on toxicology reports from the medical examiner to determine if impairment may have contributed to this death.
There were no injuries to the driver or passenger of the vehicle.
