Doris was born in San Antonio to Dorthy and Jesse Day. She married Jack Koen on October 4, 1951. They had 5 daughters, Dorys Ann, Linda, Kathy, Cindy and Jackie. For many years, Doris was a dietician at Childress Hospital in Goldthwaite. She was also known for her love of gardening, homemade cakes, pies and candies. In the last few years, Doris loved to watch “her” hummingbirds, paint, crafts, bingo and going shopping. She was a loving, caring, and giving Mama, grandma, and Memaw.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband Jack and grandson Chance Miller.

She is survived by her children, Doris Ann Payne, Linda Nichols, Kathy & Johnny Johnston, Cindy & Randy Womack and Jackie & David Smith; 13 grandkids; 22 great grandkids; 6 great-great grandkids, and by her loving families at Pecan Bayou Nursing Home, and Alpha Omega Hospice.
