14u played in the Memorial Day Bash this weekend. Rain cancelled games Saturday, so the tournament went to a one day, single elimination.
14u Bombers Sheffield finished in 2nd place. They battled with only 9 people this weekend, as several teammates were gone with graduation obligations. Andie Simpson was tournament MVP. She hit .500 on the weekend and gunned people down from catcher. She was an all around beast on offense, defense,and running the bases. Corinne Sheffield was defensive mvp this weekend. She pitched 11 innings on Sunday, had 23 strikeouts, teams hit .140 against her and she had an ERA of 1.6. She had 3 walks in 11 innings. Lily Norris and Amarrea Thomas were offensive MVPs. Lily hit .776 on the weekend and kept other teams on their toes chasing her hits. Amarrea hit .667 and had a 2 run blast over left center in the championship game.
14u will head to Oklahoma City this week to play in “The Road to the Show” tournament and also get to catch two college World Series games. Thank you to members of the community for donating towards this experience for the girls. The giving of people in this community has been a blessing for these girls.
