Lera Ines Guthrie, age 97 of Santa Anna, Texas passed from this life on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 1:29 am at Brownwood Nursing and Rehab. She was a lifelong resident of Coleman County living in Santa Anna much of her life.
Lera was born March 21, 1926 to Walter Lee McClellan and Bula Ann Williams McClellan in Gouldbusk, Texas. She was raised in Gouldbusk graduating from Mozelle High School in 1943. Ms. Lera worked at several banks throughout the years in Coleman County as a bank clerk. She was a pianist, organist, and taught lessons to many. Lera is a member of the Santa Anna Presbyterian Church where she served as organist. She loved to work in her yard and tend her roses.
Lera married Lewis Miles Guthrie on October 3, 1953, in Coleman, TX. They began their life together and were blessed with their son, David. Lewis Miles and Lera celebrated 55 years of marriage, he preceded her in death in 2009. God blessed her with Marc Sanderson and family.
Lera is survived by Marc & Staphana Sanderson of Talpa, TX, Christy & Wes Denton of Santa Anna, TX, Judy & Stan Hartman of Santa Anna, TX, Dale & Penny McClellan of San Angelo, TX, Mark & Alta McClellan, of San Angelo, TX, Janice Williams of Sheridan, AR, Monique Spillman of Little Rock, AR, Montie & Sandra Guthrie of Santa Anna TX, Lane & Sharon Guthrie of Santa Anna, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter & Bula McClellan, husband, Lewis Miles Guthrie, Son, David Guthrie, Brother, Robert “Bud” McClellan, Sister, Maxine Bain, beloved friend Victoria Sanderson.
There will be a visitation with family and friends Saturday, May 27, 2023, from 10:00-11:00am at Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna. Services will follow at 1:00pm at the Santa Anna Cemetery Pavilion with Marvin Hale officiating assisted by Tom Guthrie. Services are under the direction and care of Henderson Funeral Home staff.
