Chief Warrant Officer 4 (Retired) George Allen Huseman, age 58, of Brownwood, Texas completed his earthly journey on May 11, 2023. George was born March 20, 1965, in Valdese, North Carolina to George Louis and Helen Rose (Duncan) Huseman. When his father left the United States Army, the family moved back home to the Texas Panhandle town of Nazareth where generations of his family farmed and ranched. George later relocated with his family to Tulia, Texas in his high school years, where he graduated from Tulia High School in 1983. His fondest memories of the Panhandle were working with his Dad at the Swisher County Feedlot during the school year and spending summers with his second family, the Bryan’s, at B&S Cattle Company in Happy/Wayside, Texas. He was a true cowboy and would tell stories about being out in the cold of winter doctoring cattle and saving calves with a bottle of penicillin under his armpit trying to keep it from freezing.
After graduation, George moved to Brownwood, Texas and soon made the decision to serve his country. He joined the United States Army in 1985 where he attended Infantry Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was initially assigned to the 2nd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment in Fort Lewis, Washington. The time he spent in Regiment were some of the best years of his military career and he was most proud of that accomplishment (RLTW). Upon leaving active duty in 1989 and an interservice transfer, he was assigned to the Texas Army National Guard 1136th Pathfinders unit (Airborne) at Camp Mabry in Austin. This was the only unit to wear the 36th Infantry patch known as the T Patch. George was soon hired to work full-time as a Team Sergeant for a new unit that was formed by the Texas Governor’s office which was a Counter Drug Program Unit known as Task Unity Special Operations Detachment (SOD) which was in support of the war on drugs. The Texas National Guard then sent George to the Army Flight School at Fort Rucker, Alabama a year later where he graduated as a brand-new Army Blackhawk Helicopter pilot in May 1992. When he returned from Flight School, George attended the Travis County Sheriff’s Academy and became a Narcotics Officer with the Frio County Sheriff’s Department. In 1993, George was selected to be the first Warrant Officer One (WO1) to attend the U. S. Army Multi-Engine Fixed Wing Course from the state of Texas. Upon graduating from the Fixed Wing Course, George worked for the Austin Police Department and was assigned to Breckenridge Hospital Department where he worked alongside his older brother, Randy. While there, George was approached about a new experimental program at Waco, Texas, flying UH60L Advance Quick Fix (AQF) Blackhawk helicopters as a Test Pilot which he flew out of Waco, Texas and Fort Huachuca, Arizona. While working in Arizona, George transferred to the U. S. Army Reserve (USAR) out of Fort Hood, Texas with the 6th/52nd VIP Unit flying the C-12 (King Air 200) and UC 35 (Citation Ultra Jet). The UH60L AQF aircraft went into production two year later, at which time George went to work flying offshore EMS Helicopters for Petroleum Helicopters International (PHI) out of Lake Charles, Louisiana as a civilian. This is the point in his life that he met, fell in love, and married his soulmate, Regina. They were married in Lake Charles, Louisiana on August 18, 2001. It would not take long before George’s unit was notified of an upcoming deployment in support of Operation Joint Forge where he was activated by the U. S. Army and sent to Bosnia in support of that operation. George was honored to fly the Commanding General and other Dignitaries from the United Nations (U. N.) and NATO. Upon returning from his deployment, George went to work flying a Lear 45 aircraft for Flex Jet based out of Dallas, Texas while he continued his service in the USAR. In 2003, the U. S. Army activated George once again for the first of several combat tours to Iraq where he was accepted onto the Active Guard and Reserve program (AGR/Full-time U. S. Army). George continued to serve full-time until his retirement in November 2015 as Chief Warrant Officer Four (CW4).
CW4 (Retired) Huseman was honored to be mentored by Senior Warrant Officers and to mentor a multitude of young Soldiers and young Warrant Officers. George had an absolute love for the Enlisted Soldier and on a multitude of occasions took a stand, went to bat, and would not back down to leadership in order to ensure they were taken care of. CW4 (Retired) Huseman had endless stories to tell and was honored to visit/serve in 58 countries and serve four combat tours in Iraq. Upon his retirement, George returned to his love for flying EMS Helicopters, which he did until he created his own Aviation company.
CW4 (Retired) George Huseman was very accomplished and among his military awards were: Army Master Aviator Wings, Expert Infantry’s Badge (EIB), Iraqi Campaign Medal with Campaign Stars (3), Army Ranger Tab, Army Master Jump Wings, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary & Service Medal, Army Air Assault Wings, Army Air Medal (4), Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal (2), Army Achievement Medal (3), Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” Device, Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Special Forces Military Freefall Wings (HALO), NATO Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with (10) year Device-Bronze.
He had an extraordinary career, but more importantly George was a child of God, a loving son, a mischievous brother, a phenomenal husband, a GREAT father and father-in-law, amusing uncle, and an AWESOME PaaPaw. He had true love for his family and a love for animals, which was evident by the private animal sanctuary that he created at the ranch he shared with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He fought for the underdog and would take a stand when most would walk away. He attended High Mesa Cowboy Church in Brownwood as much as he was able to, and he loved the Lord.
George is preceded in death by his mother Helen Rose (Duncan) Huseman; grandparents Frank and Maude (Hoover) Duncan and Emil and Rose Huseman; brother-in-arms Christopher Greenaway; as well as his cherished animal babies Toby and Turtle among others.
