Brownwood ISD issued the following press release Monday morning:
This month’s spotlight teacher is Brian Harris. Mr. Harris is a Science teacher and head Baseball coach at Brownwood High School (BHS). He is a state certified teacher (Kinesiology, Biology, 7-12), and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology and Master of Education degree in Education Administration from Lamar University. Coach Harris has been with Brownwood ISD since 2019.
Coach Harris is a standout at BHS. He works hard at everything he does and is an outstanding teacher that works well with all kids to help them succeed. He teaches kids the value of hard work and sportsmanship. On the baseball field he leads with a quiet dignity that sets him apart from his peers. This year Coach Harris has led the Lions Baseball team to a Bi-District Championship and a spot competing in the Region I-4A area round of the playoffs.
We are thankful to have teachers like Coach Harris, who go the extra mile to lead students to success in the classroom, on the field, and beyond.
Our staff spotlight honoree for the month is Emily Wilson. Ms. Wilson is the District Library Coordinator and Brownwood Middle School Digital Media Specialist (Librarian). She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Howard Payne University and a Master of Science degree in Library Science from the University of North Texas.
Ms. Wilson has been with Brownwood ISD since 2016. Ms. Wilson is always smiling and willing to help students and staff in the library at BMS or on any other campus. She is also responsible for managing districtwide book inventories and training the other campus digital media specialists. She offers classes on primary sources, documenting sources, and preventing plagiarism for students working on research papers and instructs them on how to access the extensive online databases that are available to them. In addition, Ms. Wilson works with a library approval committee made of administrators and community members to review materials each year to ensure books are appropriate for grade levels and reading levels throughout the district. She takes reading seriously and works constantly to improve and enhance the reading experience of all of our students in BISD.
We are grateful to have staff like Ms. Wilson who remain ready to meet any challenge with a smile and continually provide top-notch professional support to our staff and students.
