This past Friday, Bangs FFA competed at the State FFA Agricultural Technology & Mechanical Systems Contest at SHSU. Out of the top 36 teams, Bangs finished as State Champions, earning them a spot to compete at the National Ag Mechanics competition at the National FFA Convention next fall. Out of 144 individuals, Levi Delisle finished 3rd high, Weston Scantling finished 7th, Guy Funk finished 13th and Zane VanAllen Finished 23rd.
In this competition, students compete in Ag Mechanics skills including concrete construction (form building, surveying, calculations), Irrigation pumps (sizing, ID) and Seeding equipment (calibration, parts ID). At the national level, these students will compete in welding, electrical wiring, small engine maintenance, environmental and natural resources, and machinery maintenance. This is the third time in 4 years that Bangs FFA has qualified for the National Ag Mechanics contest!
