LUBBOCK – Brownwood Lion senior Tyse Savage became the school’s third qualifier for the UIL Class 4A Track and Field State Championships on Saturday as he placed second in the Region I-4A boys 200 meters.
Savage was clocked at 21.46, just two-hundredths of a second behind regional champion Ja’Vaun Hendicks (21.44) of Gainesville.

Earlier this week on the Brownwood Lions Coach’s Show on KOXE, Savage said of the possibility of making it to state, “It’s something I dream about it. I dream about it quite a lot actually. I’ve improved in the 200 a lot from my junior year to my senior year, and I’ve cut three seconds off since going into my sophomore year. But there’s more to uncover and chances to get a little faster.”
