Howard Payne University’s Simonne Sanders recorded four hits in a Lady Jacket 12-7 conference victory at Concordia University Texas Friday evening.
In a game that was delayed due to weather, Howard Payne out hit Concordia 15-6 sparked by big offensive outputs in the fourth and sixth innings.
Trailing 6-1, the Lady Jackets posted a five-run fourth to tie the game at 6-6 and then used a six-run sixth to gain a 12-7 advantage and the eventual final.
Simonne Sanders led HPU going 4-for-5 at the plate with 4 RBI including a double. McKeanne Saenz was 3-for-4 with a stolen base. Elaine Gonzalez was 2-for-4 with 4 RBI and a double and triple. Madison Forrester was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and a stolen base.
Bree Cason (8-9 overall) got the complete game win allowing seven runs (2 earned) on six hits and striking out two.
Due to the weather delay, both teams will play their double-header on Saturday starting at 1:00 pm.
