No. 19 Lady Dragons complete perfect run through district with 11-0 win at Miles

MILES – The District 6-2A champion and 19th-ranked Bangs Lady Dragons completed a flawless run through league play with an 11-0 road victory Friday, wrapping up the regular season.

The Lady Dragons (23-4, 14-0) – who outscored their foes over 14 district contests by a 192-5 count – led just 1-0 over Miles (10-4 in district) heading to the fifth inning, but scored three runs that frame, two more in the sixth and tacked on five additional runs in the seventh.

Bangs recorded 18 hits, drew three walks and was aided by four Miles errors.

Abby Wolf collected four hits – including a home run – and tallied five RBIs to lead the offensive onslaught, followed by Cheyenne Rush with three hits and two RBI and Bailey Mendieta with three hits and one RBI. Neeley Bradley and Julianna Ethridge each contributed a pair of hits, while Jadyn Miller finished with one hit and an RBI. Others joining the attack were Sierra Loran, Emily Baker, Jordan Valdez as every Lady Dragons finished with at least one base hit.

In the circle, Wolf hurled a four-hit shutout over seven innings with 16 strikeouts and one walk.

The Lady Dragons open the playoffs against District 5-2A fourth seed Wink in a one-game encounter at 6 p.m. Wednesday at San Angelo Central.
