MILES – Leading 12-5 heading to the bottom of the sixth inning, the Bangs Dragons surrendered four runs in each of the final two frames as the Miles Bulldogs stormed back for a stunning 13-12 District 7-2A baseball victory Friday.
The loss dropped Bangs (17-7-2, 7-3) into a second-place tie with Miles (15-6, 7-3) in the league standings with two games remaining next week. The Dragons host Coleman (11-9, 6-3) – who play De Leon Saturday – at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Against Miles, the Dragons collected 10 hits, drew 12 walks and the Bulldogs committed three errors. But Bangs yielded 14 hits, 11 walks and committed seven miscues in the field.
Brayden Fields led Bangs with three hits and two RBIs while Kenny Cole chipped in a pair of hits and plated three. Weston Jundt recorded two hits and drove in one while Ethan Ethridge and Skylar Minshew both chipped in one hit and one RBI. Guy Powell picked up a hit as well.
