The Howard Payne University men’s golf team finished third overall and Yellow Jacket Kyle Anderson ended tied for first at HPU’s The Battle hosted at the Brownwood Country Club this week.
The Yellow Jackets shot a 587 (287-290) to finish third overall as a team. It was the best two-round overall score for the Yellow Jackets this season.
HPU’s Kyle Anderson shot a 141 (74-67) to finished tied with Jack Estes of Hardin-Simmons. Estes won the playoff hole #18 to place Anderson as the official runner-up. Anderson led the tournament in Par 4 scoring with a 4.00 (E) and was fourth in Par 3 scoring at 3.10 (+1)
Lucas Kinkade finished T-8th with a 147 (71-76), Kaleb Brown was T-12th with a 148 (76-72), Jake Angerstein ended T-19th with a 151 (76-75), and Harrison Hopson was 27th with a 155 (76-79).
Brady Nelson was T-28th with a 156 (79-77), Cole Hermsmeyer finished T-33rd with a 159 (80-79), Blaine Onick was T-37th with a 161 (83-78), Evan Joseph was also T-37th with a 161 (86-75).
Rainer Horne was 44th with a 170 (84-86), Mason Guinn was 45th with a 172 (89-83), Garrison Jones was 46th with a 173 (87-86), and Ryan Snow finished 47th with a 185 (89-96).
The Yellow Jacket men’s golf team will compete next at the American Southwest Conference Championships on April 28-30 at the Oakwing Golf Club in Alexandria, Louisiana.
