Former Brownwood resident, Patricia “Pat” Ann Young Dugan, passed on April 9, 2023 in Austin.
Pat was born April 17, 1936 in Lubbock, Texas to Claud and Clara Young. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1954. She met the love of her life, Robert H “Bobby” Dugan while he was training at Reese AFB in Lubbock. They were married in Lubbock in 1955. The new couple were the nucleus of the usual military family, transferring from base to base across the US and Japan. They had 5 children, each born in various states. She bowled in many national tournaments and also served as local league secretary for the Women’s International Bowling Congress. She was an IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistant to help others prepare their taxes. She loved the Girl Scouts and the local Girl Scouts of Central Texas Council, formerly known as Heart of Texas. Her 35 year tenure as Cookie Coordinator led to her being awarded the highest GSUSA volunteer award: Thanks Badge and subsequently Thanks Badge II. There is currently a GSCTX “Pat Dugan Award” which annually recognizes an outstanding Product Program volunteer. Pat is survived by daughters Connie Bugel of Durham NC, Karen Rountree of San Antonio, Kathleen Mueller of Cambridge MN, Carrie Stewart of Bastrop; son Robert Corry Dugan of Austin; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
