Jewel Louise Watkins

Louise Watkins, 83 of Granite Shoals and former long-time resident of San Saba, went to be with the Lord on April 7, 2023, in Granite Shoals.

Funeral services for Louise will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba, with James Jones officiating. Burial to follow at San Saba City Cemetery. A visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m. one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of San Saba.

She was born on August 10, 1939, to Arthur Lee Smith and Jewell Catherine Rasco Smith in Lampasas. Louise married Robert Watkins on March 20, 1958. They remained together faithfully for 42 years. She lived in San Saba retiring from San Saba Nursing Home. Louise attended church and volunteered at the Agape House in San Saba. Louise helped many in life; she gave what money couldn’t buy, “love.” 


Louise is survived by her son, Kenneth R. Watkins; grandchildren, Amanda Brannon of Warren, OH, Brandy Brown of Houston, Kerry Watkins of Springtown, Michael Watkins of Rochelle, Ashlyn Watkins of Granite Shoals, Shane Watkins of Granite Shoals, Louann Watkins of Granite Shoals; nine great- grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and sister-in-law, Peggy Smith of Gatesville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Watkins; two sons, Denver D. Watkins and Robert H. Watkins; grandson, Denver D. Watkins Jr.; granddaughter, Stephanie Watkins; brothers, Robert A. Smith, Louis “Virgil” Smith, Donnie Smith, Earl “Son” Smith; sisters, Vada Kelly and Caroline Neff; nephew, Kenny R. Smith; and niece, Lavada R. Howard.
