The Dragons fell behind 3-0 in the top of the first inning, but scored single runs in the first, second and third to draw even. Bangs then grabbed a 7-3 advantage in the bottom of the fourth, which grew to 12-3 after five innings and the Dragons ended the game in the bottom of the sixth.
Bangs finished with 11 hits, drew six walks and were assisted by five De Leon errors.
Ethan Ethridge finished with four hits and three RBIs; Guy Powell recorded two hits, including a solo home run; Skylar Minshew launched a three-run home run; Hunter Newton and Kenny Cole both finished with a single and an RBI; and Hunter Crowell and Dee Klutts contributed hits as well.
On the mound, Cole pitched all six innings and allowed three runs – none earned – on one hit with eight strikeouts and one walk. The Bangs defense committed four errors behind him.
Bangs is back in action at 7 p.m. Tuesday when it hosts Gorman in a non-district contest. The Dragons resume league play at Hamilton at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
