BROCK – The Early Longhorns’ six-game District 8-3A win streak came to an end Thursday night as the No. 5 Brock Eagles completed a league sweep, 12-1.
Early (11-6, 6-2) trailed Brock (18-3-1, 8-0) by a 2-0 count after inning and 5-0 after two before scoring its only run in the top of the third. The Eagles responded with four runs in the bottom of the third and three more in the fourth for the final 11-run margin.
The Longhorns finished with just three hits – doubles by John-Stewart Gordon and Ki Houston and a single by Jeremy Brown.
On the mound, Gavin Sanders and Caydon Laird yielded a combined nine earned runs on 12 hits with five strikeouts and five walks. The Longhorn defense committed one error behind them.
The Longhorns (11-6, 6-2) will attempt to rebound at Peaster at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
