Spring is the perfect time to enjoy the varied landscapes of Texas, but you don’t even have to leave Brownwood to see them. Just head over to the Brownwood Art Center and check out the latest exhibit, Texas: City, Country, and Coast, a Juried Landscape Competition.
The opening reception will be Thursday, April 6, from 5-7 p.m., at the Art Center, 215 Fisk Ave. Awards will be announced at 6 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
From Palo Duro Canyon to Port Aransas, and Caddo Lake to the Chihuahuan Desert, painters, photographers, and fiber artists from Brown County and beyond will be sharing their visions of Texas. All works will be for sale.
Brownwood Art Association Exhibits chair Brenda Shaw notes that “First Thursdays are a chance for people to meet the artists, enjoy the art, and find out what else is going on at the Art Center. We have several groups that meet here, and we’re always glad to meet new artists and help them get their work exhibited.”
The Juror for this show is Randy Hall, a painter, photographer, and educator who lives and works in San Angelo. He has been a member of the Angelo State University faculty since 2004, and currently is a Professor, serving as the Art Program Coordinator, curating exhibits, and teaching course work.
Texas: City, Country and Coast will be on display at the Art Center through April 20. Regular Gallery hours are 2-6 pm, weekdays. Admission is always free. For more information, call 325-641-2916, visit www.brownwoodart.net, or find the B.A.A. on Facebook.
