MINERAL WELLS – The Brownwood Lady Lions rebounded from their first District 6-4A softball defeat and captured the first of two league contests against Mineral Wells this week, 7-1, Tuesday night.
Tynlea Wilson went the distance in the circle for the Lady Lions (8-9, 2-1) and yielded just one run on eight hits with four strikeouts and no walks, leaving seven base runners stranded in the process. The Brownwood defense, which struggled in a 9-7 loss at Glen Rose Friday, was able to overcome three errors Tuesday.
On the offensive end for Brownwood, the Lady Lions struck for two runs in their first trip to the plate, three more in the third inning, and added single runs in the fourth and seventh.
The Lady Lions’ 11-hit attack featured four hits and a pair of RBI from Chloe Walls, while Kyleigh Caperton contributed two hits and drove in three. Cecilia Rodriguez added two hits and picked up an RBI while Mia Lopez also recorded a pair of hits, including a triple. Jeniffer Romero doubled as well for the Lady Lions.
Brownwood will attempt to complete the district sweep of Mineral Wells (0-3 in district) at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Lady Lion Field.
