BANGS – The Bangs Lady Dragons were scored upon for the first time in District 6-2A softball action, but reached the midway point of the league slate alone in first place following Tuesday’s 12-2 home victory over Miles.
Bangs (16-4, 6-0) – which has outscored its league foes 97-2 – led 2-0 after one inning Tuesday, 3-1 after two, 6-1 after three, 9-2 through four, and the Lady Dragons tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to enforce the 10-run mercy rule.
The Lady Dragons generated 15 hits as Abby Wolf, Julianna Ethridge and Emily Baker led the charge with three apiece. Jadyn Miller added two hits while Cheyenne Rush, Neeley Bradley, Sierra Lorah and Jaylee Valdez contributed one apiece. Ethridge’s four RBIs were a team-best, Baker tacked on three RBIs, and Rush, Miller, Lorah and Valdez drove in one run apiece.
In the circle, Wolf gave up two earned runs on nine hits with seven strikeouts.
Bangs begins the second half of district action at home against Santa Anna Friday.
