BANGS – In a battle of second-place teams in District 7-2A heading into Tuesday night, the host Bangs Dragons emerged with a 10-9 triumph over the visiting Miles Bulldogs.
Bangs (12-5-2, 4-1) scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally for the victory. The Dragons and Miles were tied at 4 after two innings, Bangs trailed 5-4 after three innings and 9-6 heading to the bottom of the sixth, where the Dragons picked up another run.
The Dragons collected eight hits – two each by Kenny Cole and Hunter Newton, and one apiece by Guy Powell, Ethan Ethridge, Brayden Fields and Hunter Crowell. Ethridge tallied a team-best two RBIs while Cole, Newton and Weston Jundt were also credited with an RBI each.
On the mound, Zack Ferguson tossed two innings of scoreless relief to notch the win,. Skylar Minshew worked 3.1 innings and yielded five runs – two earned – on a pair of hits with five strikeouts. Cole pitched 1.2 innings and surrendered four runs – one earned – one two hits with one strikeout.
The Dragons host Coleman Friday night.
