ROBINSON – The District 5-4A third-seeded Brownwood Lady Lions tuned up for the postseason with a 6-0 road victory over Robinson Monday in a playoff warm-up match.
Six different Lady Lions scored goals – Molly Oliver, Addison Pesina, Ataleigh Constancio, Jacklyn Lewis, Braycee Lee and Kennedi Johnson. Recording assists were Constancio with two, along with Johnson, Pesina and Lee with one apiece.
In goal, Noemi Ceniceros recorded the shutout.
The Lady Lions (15-5-1) will carry a three-game win streak into their Class 4A Region I bi-district playoff against District 6 runner-up and 12th-ranked Godley (14-1) at 6 p.m. Thursday in Mineral Wells.
“Coming off a little break this past week, the girls played very well against a good quality opponent who finished second in their district,” said Lady Lions head coach Alexis Mosqueda. “The defense held the shutout which was a big emphasis in our pre-game meeting. All the pieces came together today and I feel that we are in good shape to begin playoffs. I’m glad we were able to make the trip to Waco to get a look at someone different from our district opponents. It took the girls out of their comfort zone, and they finished a great game.”
