At the midway point of the 10-game XFL regular season schedule, the D.C. Defenders remain the lone undefeated squad and Brownwood’s Matt McCrane is tied for the league league in field goals made.
McCrane has converted 7 of 8 field goal attempts through five games – tied with Taylor Russolino of the Arlington Renegades and Parker Romo of the San Antonio Brahmas for most kicks made and highest field goal percentage – with a long of 47, the second-longest successful kick of the season.
The Defenders are now 5-0 on the season following Saturday’s 28-20 road victory over the St. Louis Battlehawks. D.C. leads the Battlehawks and Seattle Sea Dragons, who are both 3-2, by two games in the XFL North Division. The XFL South Division-leading Houston Roughnecks are 4-1.
The remaining regular season schedule for D.C. features a home game against Houston at 6 p.m. Monday, March 27 (ESPN2); a 5 p.m. road game against the Orlando Guardians (ESPN) on Saturday, April 1; a 6 p.m. Sunday, April 9 road game at Seattle (ESPN2); an 11 a.m. Sunday, April 16 home game against Arlington (ESPN); and the 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22 regular season finale at San Antonio (ABC/ESPN).
