The following was posted on the Teddy’s Brewhaus Facebook page Sunday afternoon:
We have some Good News & Some Other News:
Teddy’s Brewhaus has been bought out! We were approached by another Brewery and Winery several months ago, who made us an offer we simply could not refuse. And yes, this means Teddy’s will be moving to another part of the State and no longer housed in Brownwood, Texas. It is Good News for the brand and will certainly create some changes here at what was the Flagship of our company in the Historic Weakley Watson Building. This was by no means an easy decision, and after serious and thoughtful reflection we know this is what will allow our brand to flourish and grow statewide. The private company who has acquired Teddy’s has serious end-roads to brewing and distribution in Central Texas and Fredericksburg, Texas. We are very excited about what this can mean going forward with the Teddy’s Brewhaus brand.
We have also been offered a purchase of the building. But, we plan to keep it for now and merely create retail space on site for other local businesses allowing others to create some needed retail space in Downtown Brownwood. This will open so many possibilities for the location.
We know this may come as a surprise too many, we really had no plans to even think of such a move, and yet we cannot pass on such an opportunity. We have several bookings out as far as October currently – We will be working with them on their needs as well.
Change, is never easy, but sometimes it is necessary to allow for growth, such is the case with our little Brewery, this can allow it to expand into something special. It is an honor to be approached by those in our industry who want to help Teddy’s go to the next level in brewing and distribution. We are grateful to this community who has supported us and helped us to grow here in Brownwood. We are also very proud of how this community has encouraged us over the years and to prove the possibilities of a once static downtown market. We will be forever grateful. To think on when we opened and then only months later to be shut down by a global pandemic, only to push forward and continue to be successful is a story in itself. It has certainly been a wild and adventurous ride.
We want to also thank every employee who has worked so tirelessly in helping to keep this boat afloat and deliver a unique and special product. There is no way we could have done any of this without the staff and those patrons who came and supported our start up. I want to also personally thank the local businesses such as Robersons Rent All, Wilson Electric, RG Floors, Tunnel Construction, Frost AC, Texas Custom Interiors, Sherwin William, Home Depot, Ben E Kieth Foods (James Cleveland), Keg Connection (Todd & James), Sloggers Market, Chick-Fil-A (Bridget Jones), Rebel Quillin, VRC Technologies, BMDD (Ray Tipton), BWD Chamber, Texas Clean, Brownwood News, Depot Liquor, Tim Brasher & Co, Andy’s Pest Troopers, Trans Texas Tire, Honor-way Productions, Brownwood Janitorial, Smith and Sharp, Pates Hardware, Ratliff Steel (Stihl Ratliff), and Brennan Winery’s, to name a few who have helped us from the beginning.
As of now, we will be open until April 1st our last day – at which time we will be closing the building for brewery removal and relocation. After we relocate the equipment we will begin opening the space for future retailers who desire to lease the site for their own ideas and businesses.
We simply cannot THANK EVERYONE in this community and the outliers who have come to Brownwood to seek a unique and special product. The partners are not going anywhere, as we have other investments in the local community that we will be dealing with on a daily basis as we help to grow those interests as well.
“Thank You”, just does not do any of this justice as to express how grateful we are. We hope to see you over the next two weeks as we finish out the month and create some special and final memories before we move on to other Brewery Adventures. We hope to see you over these final weeks, and as you look for some daily food features, wine, and beer specials from Teddy’s to show our appreciation.
So, mark your calendars for April 1st, as this will be a final day & night for our “last toast”. With some special offerings for all, live music, as we go out with a bang. Onward!
God Bless You All,
Teddy’s
