EARLY – The Early Lady Horns continued their stellar play as District 8-3A softball action kicked off Tuesday with a 10-0 victory over Eastland.
Scoreless after three inning, Early (14-3-2, 1-0) erupted for nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and added one more in the sixth to enforce the 10-run mercy rule.
The Lady Horns finished with 11 hits, drew five walks and took advantage of two Eastland errors.
Teagan Lopez led the offense with three hits – including a triple – and two RBIs and also tossed a two-hit shutout with eight strikeouts.
Marissa Reedy and Jordan Simmons both finished with two hits – including one triple each – and a pair of RBIs, Grace LaRue doubled twice and Aubrey Greaves and Madison Torrez both contributed a single. Brooklynn McCullough also drove in a run for Early.
The Lady Horns visit Dublin at 5 p.m. Friday.
