LLANO – The Early Lady Horns won their bracket at the Llano softball tournament over the weekend, posting a 4-1 weekend record to improve to 13-3-2 for the season.
Early defeated Mason, 7-2, Thursday and lost to Llano, 6-0. The Lady Horns followed wins over Miles, 14-0, and Ingram Tom Moore, 8-1, Friday and finished with a 7-1 triumph over La Grange Saturday.
In the win over Mason, the Lady Horns tallied five hits and took advantage of four errors. Teagan Lopez led the way with two hits – including a home run – and a pair of RBIs, while Marissa Reedy chipped in a hit and drove in two. Grace LaRue contributed one hit and one RBI, while Aubrey Greaves tacked on a hit and Trinity Torrez drove home a run.
In the circle, LaRue allowed two runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and one walk.
Against Miles, Early produced 11 hits led by Lopez with three and three RBIs, while Reedy chipped in two – including a home run – and four RBIs. LaRue contributed a pair of hits and two RBIs while Shults Reagan and Kayla Wallace each finished with one hit and one RBI. Gabby Leal and Katie Whitehead tacked on one hit apiece.
LaRue allowed three hits with four strikeouts in a three-inning shutout in the circle.
Versus Ingram, the Lady Horns recorded nine hits including two each from Reedy, Stoney Laughlin and Brooklynn McCullough. Greaves, Lopez and Madison Torrez notched one hit each. Laughlin, Lopez and LaRue each drove in two runs while McCullough also plated a base runner.
Lopez gave up one run on three hits with one strikeout.
In the finale against La Grange, Early collected nine more hits as LaRue, Lopez and McCullough finished with two each and Reedy, Laughlin and Reagan added one apiece. Laughlin, Lopez and Reagan each tallied two RBIs and Reedy added one.
Lopez went the distance in the circle and yielded one run on five hits with five strikeouts.
The Lady Horns are back in action at 5 p.m. Tuesday as they host Eastland in the District 8-3A opener.
