In order to maintain a safe environment for children to study and learn, it is necessary that Brownwood Independent School District (BISD) practice emergency and response plans by having drills designed to exercise the procedures.

Monday, March 6th, through Friday, March 11th, BISD will be conducting campus evacuation drills for every campus within the district.

During the evacuation drill, students will be safely escorted along a designated evacuation route to a pre-determined evacuation site. At the conclusion of the drill, all students will be escorted back to the school. You may see staff in safety vests in the neighborhoods and around the campus as well as a few emergency vehicles and first responders at different campuses.

After school pick-up and transportation procedures for students will not be affected by these drills.

The students and staff at BISD practice various state-mandated emergency drills several times a year.

A briefing for the community will be held on Friday, March 3 at 5 p.m. at Brownwood High School (2100 Slayden, Room 230) for anyone with questions, concerns, or wanting to learn more about the district’s emergency drills and procedures.
