The owners and operators of the new R.B. Rogers house hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony this past Tuesday to celebrate Brownwood’s new Airbnb. R.B. Rogers House is open for booking stays or hosting private events.
The historic R.B Rogers House, nicknamed, “The Grand Lady,” was built in 1905 for Robert Baker Rogers and his wife, Elvirah Rogers. Elvirah was the first piano teacher at Howard Payne University.
The house has been redesigned into a newly styled historic home that still resembles the era it was built in. Additionally, the house has been updated with modern technology to acclimate guests’ needs and desires who stay or book private events.
The owners and operators, Tracy Tucker and Poly Khandaker, are excited to open the new Air B&B to the public and allow guests to experience the comfort and hospitality of the R.B. Rogers House.
“We are just so privileged to be here, and be the caretakers of this ‘Grand Lady’ and delighted to open her up to the community,” said Tucker.
The first floor of the house features a library, dining room, parlor and piano room, and a tea room. Suite A and Suite B are located on the second floor.
Both suites are each a master bedroom connected to an adjacent room with a bathroom. They are separated by the upstairs common room. Each of the suites offers its own unique style and design. Both include amenities such as a smart TV, microwave, Keurig and coffee station, and a mini fridge.
When the cottage is complete, it will include a private bedroom with a full-size bed, dressing room, and bathroom. Additionally, there will be a sitting area, kitchen, and laundry room.
