Cross Classical Academy recently competed in the TCEA Region 15 Robotics Competition and the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Robotics Contest. Six teams of 16 students represented CCA at both competitions.
In both meets, all six Cross Classical teams made it to the finals, placing or winning the meet. Teams CCA Robust Bricks and CCA Mechanical Knockout won second place honors at the TCEA Region 15 event and CCA Logical Expertise along with Archives from (Christoval Middle School) won first place at the San Angelo Rodeo event. Over 50 teams traveled as far as from the Lubbock area and north of the Metroplex to these events.
Students were issued a 20-page challenge in September that involved building robots, programming autonomous functions, and driving the machines to complete several challenges.
“This year’s challenge was different from other competitions because our teams were required to ally with other area teams to complete the tasks. Here again, robotics serves to prepare our kids for real world service. We are grateful for the opportunity to compete and build relationships with other teams in Central and West Texas,” Coach Vaughn Managan reported.
“These students have worked diligently this year preparing for robotics competitions. We share the excitement with them of placing at this competition. We are also grateful for the leadership of Vaughn Managan and Joanie Fagan who encourage these students in their thinking and their leadership.” said Kaci Danek, Administrator Cross Classical Academy.
