Earlier this week, another project became a reality for the North Lake and May area. The Fire/EMS scholarship program was introduced and presented at the May High School.
There was a great attendance by interested students and our local public servants. North Lake and May volunteer responders made the opening and closing remarks while representatives from TSTC, Early Fire Department, Brownwood Fire Department, Air Evac, ambulance crew members, medical and fire professionals and May alumni all spoke and gave their testimony, support and encouragement.
This scholarship project will provide full tuition, books and the gear required to become a certified fire fighter and EMT making the student hirable and ready to work in less than 6 months with salaries starting in the mid-$40,000 area. With continued training these young people could aspire to be paramedics, flight nurses, fire chiefs or where ever their ambition may take them in this field.
The goal is to take a very special and valuable person, give them a great start in life and at the same time they will helped preserve life.
We hope to make this a yearly scholarship and fine tune the opportunities in the future. The support we gathered to make this possible will be read during the scholarship presentation to the deserving student and if possible “”students” depending on financial support from believers like you who donate to this very worthy cause.
